Yellow Pages expands listing categories with changing times

AT&T Yellow Pages added 36 new category headings to its directory in 2006 in an effort to keep pace with societal changes, the company says.

Among the new headings that can now be found in the telephone directory are Animal Chiropractic Services, Online Schools and Meal Preparation.

"In addition to being a great way to find local businesses, the AT&T Yellow Pages also reflects how we live," says Bob Mueller, director of marketing communications for AT&T Yellow Pages. "Keeping our animals healthy and active, learning online, and buying meals already prepared have become facets of modern life, and we reflect those trends in our books."

Adding new headings is not something the company takes lightly, Mueller says. It occurs only after a Headings Product Team determines that a critical mass of business is active in that industry.

Other new category headings added in 2006 include Assisted Living In Home Care, Immigration Services, Photographers Sports and Virtual Tours.

AT&T Yellow Pages is a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T - News), a communications holding company based in San Antonio.
