Cell phone maker Motorola Inc. said Tuesday it closed its acquisition of Symbol Technologies Inc., a maker of barcode scanners and handheld computers, for $3.9 billion.
Symbol will be the center of Motorola's business mobility business, the company said. The deal was first announced in September.
Trading of Symbol's shares has been halted as a result of the acquisition.
Motorola's shares fell 34 cents to close at $18.26 on the New York Stock Exchange and slid 5 cents to $18.21 in after-hours trading.
