SGH-X830 new MP3 phone from Samsung

Samsung Electronics said it has unveiled a new mini mobile phone which doubles as an MP3 player.

The SGH-X830 model measures 84 x 30 x19.9 mm (3.36 x 1.2 x 0.8 inches) and weighs 75 grams (2.62 ounces). It can store 250 songs and allows users to download audio files from CNN or BBC websites.

Samsung said the phone would be released in Europe by the end of this month.

Its unique swing-open form allows for a “perfect” combination of mobile phone and MP3 player function, the company said.

When closed, it functions like a MP3 player with a music player interface. Swinging the phone open doubles its length for optimal mobile communication.

“This mini MP3 phone’s portability and compactness does not compromise the ease of use for its various multimedia functions,” Samsung said in a statement.
